Here's a new arrangement of Duke Ellington' s "Come Sunday" by my congregations former Music director, Lance Loiselle and a friend of his. "Come Sunday" was a regular part of our worship

Lance hales from Detroit, so his style of Jazz works well with Chicago. One of the CD's he gave me of him working with some other artists ( I think it was one of those all night jam sessions that resulted in a complete new CD) , had that classic Chicago sound..." We may not be the biggest or the baddest, but you mess with us, you are going to have some serious hurting going on."

    Lance is really, really good!

I'll give it a listen. I listen to Miles Davis as much as I listen to Pearl Jam.

Truly talented ....and combined with some great Jazz and Gospel voices in our congregation, made Sunday Mornings always a surprise and joy. Lance regularly improvised music throughout the service.

If you don't know the lyrics, check them out, they are truly inspiring for those that are entering into the struggles now beginning again as we work to make our country live up to its promises. They are words for a people invested in the long haul to make the world better for the future generations of our children and grandchildren.

    Duke Ellington is timeless.

Tommy Dorsey's "Precious Lord" is right up there with this.
