Old crane boiler burner motor

Does anybody know if there is a motor that can be used to replace the burner or “inducer” motor in this antique crane boiler?

You have a Midco Economite gas burner. It was an aftermarket burner. Your boiler may have originally been fuel oil and was converted when gas became available.

Midco is still in business, but they haven't made that burner in a long time.

@Tim McElwain may have some information on these. I'm interested also because I have a 50YO Midco on a 70YO Weil McLain boiler. Working great (knocks on wood).
    I DIY.

That looks like a standard frame motor and possibly a more modern replacement. There are still other gas power burners available that someone that knows what they are doing could replace that with.

Looks can be deceiving. That motor has a centrifugal switch which closes as the motor spins up, which turns on the gas valve.

They sold tons of those burners. I would think those motors would be available.

You could probably have it fixed at a motor shop,,,,,,,,,,but a new burner would be a better investment..........or a new boiler

Mine is a E20. Yours may be an E20A or E20B, so maybe a little newer.

I wonder if you can get motors with a double throw start switch or an accessory to replace the start switch with a dpdt switch.

This might be your motor. https://www.uem.ca/357-1-30-hp-115-volt-357

But I can’t be sure of the rotation. Every thing else is close enough for government work. See “Features “. Studs and Switch. Call to see if it is available and if they have info on cross reference to the old numbers

Yeah if that has an end switch in it. I bet that will work. Thanks!
