Black Goop Inside New Boiler

I just got this Carrier / Dunkirk boiler installed. After taking the cover off I noticed all this black goop all over inside. It seemed too sloppy to be manufactured that way...like maybe the installer was trying to seal a leak or something. I have no clue what to expect, so thought I'd see what you all know. I appreciate any insight....see pictures linked.

Does look like someone got a little happy with the black RTV -- but I don't see it anywhere I wouldn't expect at least some.

Thanks for your input @Jamie Hall! Just to double check, it's normal to use RTV on a brand new boiler....not just fixing an old one?

Looks within the normal range to me

Some do, some don't. Depends on the manufacturer's preference.

Awesome, thanks everyone! I was worried I had a hack job done.
