Oil Heat research is driven by demand, of which there is less and less in this country. Riello has made some progress on a 2 stage residential burner but I'm not sure the savings justify the cost.

1998 Buderus boiler is still a good efficient boiler. Still available for sale today! Why are you replacing? Is it leaking?

Improvements in Buderus, side wall venting, or oil heat in general?

The G115 is still an excellent boiler.
What is the current burner? Riello BF?
What are the current operating controls? Logamatic, Aquastat, relays, ODR, etc?
Is the boiler also producing domestic hot water?

Other options are low mass cast iron 3 pass, which the Buderus is not.

Also look into the Energy Kinetics EK-1 Frontier. Side wall venting with the lower firing rates. Another excellent, high efficiency boiler.

Don't replace based on the size of the existing boiler. A heat loss calculation must be done. You can download the free Slant/Fin heat loss calculator app and do it yourself. You'll be surprised how little you need in BTU's to heat your home.

It's still a 30 year old boiler , nothing new

There was an error rendering this rich post.

Did your Buderus leak or are their problems with it? Are you just looking for ways to use less oil. Curious minds would like to know .
