Honeywell aquastat/anticipator question

Had a new Honeywell L8148A installed to replace one under warranty that lasted only a few months. I noticed the directions say that the aquastat is designed to work with the thermostat anticipator set at .2 Amps. Prior to this it’s been at .8 Amps, could this be the cause of early aquastat failure? This is for a Burnham oil fired boiler going to cast iron rads.

What was wrong with the old relay?

No, the anticipator setting is a recommendation to the place o where to start adjusting the anticipator to give the desired results with regard to overshoot and swing. But... it assumes you do, in fact, have an anticipator on your thermostat. Not all do... so it's a guide to adjusting the thermostat.

Tim, the first one had fried on the board near the switching relay, the second one stopped working but not sure why.

Sounds like you have an electrical/grounding/neutral issue.
In 30 years I've never replaced a customers aquastat twice.
The anticipator setting has nothing to do with it.
