    Dan,

    Excellent work and read.

Although i would point out that i would have left the steam traps out of the equation here since you now have a wet return with very low pressure. What type of steam traps did you specifically utilize? Mechanical or thermostatic? i would be hesitant to add steam traps to the system as the original did not have them and operated at a very low pressure as you stated. With this low pressure the banging noise would have been eliminated anyways dont you agree.

    excellent retrofit.

    thanks for the article.

Nice read. By lowering the return to the floor you created a Hartford Loop.

Knowledge and common sense made the pathway to selling the job to the customer, by restoring the system to an operational state even with the new boiler you saved the customer a lot of money over time,

Correctly designed steam with dry return and trapless radiators excels. Correct design requires condensate gets back into boiler and air is expelled somehow somewhere.

Excellent observations and repairs, very good work.

When you did the EDR calculations for boiler sizing, did you downsize by 20% for the oversized radiation?

And was there a reason to not put orifices in the new supply valves and not add traps?
