I visited an old farm house in Newton, NJ today that I'm looking to purchase. The house has one-pipe steam. Boiler is a Burnham mega-steam. Piped with a nice drop header. On the side of the boiler is a dead men's steam school sticker. I was curious if someone on this message board did the install. Sorry i don't have pictures, my phone died. House is located in a 20 acre property on old swartswood Rd in Newton, nj

Wonder who? But if they put the sticker on the boiler and bothered with a drop header, it's probably not too bad overall!

Wonder if @JStar did it when he still had his own company?

The near boiler piping looked good from what I could see. Both ports used; drop header; couldn't tell pipe size cause it was all insulated. My wife finds it weird that the first thing I want to see in houses we visit is the basement and the heating situation.

I got the disclosure form from the owner which state the boiler is 7 years old. Would that be about the right timeframe for @JStar?

@danFromNJ , Yes, JStar sold his business about two to three years ago. Excellent steam Pro.

Call heart and illif and ask if they have steam guy. I use them at my parents house on Lake Mohawk. Alway been happy with them, but don't know if they know steam well. The service folks have always been very good.

    Mystery solved!

I went back to look at the house yesterday and met the homeowner. He told me who installed the boiler. He did the work himself!

Apparently he was on the site all the time when he did the install. I found some of the posts but this site gets weird when you start reading the posts from 10 years ago. Is there any way to get pictures from those old posts?

Here is a link to one of the discussions from when the boiler was first installed.

    Yes it's my system...
Hello all...it's been a long time. I better update that disclosure...wow 10 years. Nice meeting you Dan. This was one the most satisfying jobs I've done on the farm, and the boiler has been running flawlessly since I installed and tuned...thank you all involved for the amazing advice. I'll post up some of the original diagrams and pics as soon I get a chance.
Nice catch on the sticker! I'm glad I put in there. It's rare that someone appreciates a heating system lol.
    What a small world huh?
