Automatic Steam Boiler blow downs

Are auto blow downs regularly installed on residential steam boilers?
Would they work well on the low water cutoff blow down for one-pipe steam systems? Does the benefit outweigh the costs?
Is it something that is regularly offered?and if not why?

    Most new steam boilers are installed with probe type LWCO's that do not require any blow downs at all. I still have a float type LWCO and I don't know that I'd want an automatic one. Float types need to be tested when blown down to make sure they actually shut the burner down. The probe types do too but not as frequently.

    Never seen auto blow downs on residential. Too costly and troublesome. Even in commercial and industrial they are seldom used as their is usually a licensed boiler operator on site. He has to have something to do. Besides you don't want one to get stuck open and drain the boiler when no one is around
