Funny thing I came across today.
This was on the discharge of a "generously sized" pool pump.

Reminds me of Dan's story about the dead-headed pressure booster pump.

I love how right where it ballooned is the "NOT FOR PTESSURE" warning. How hot was the water at the pump discharge?

I wouldn't have thought that foam core could have expanded that much.

The water is 86 degree pool water. It did this right before the pump cavitated and blew up the impeller. I suspect the sand filter plugged causing the inlet of the pump to go even more negative. It doesn't help that the pump is a couple feet above the pool and is located at 9,600 feet (atmospheric pressure ~ 10.xxpsi).

I like the idea of a **** category, I have lots of pictures. :o
You can tell folks not to use cellular core PVC all day, nothing like a picture....

No one could have the ability to dream that up for photoshoping that. A little steam action to heat the pipe.

Looks like a ruptured colon.......or a gastric bypass gone wrong.

Hey I've been to aspen in January. Can't recall the place. Pool 1/2 outside, and swim under glass to the bar inside. I was at the bar inside, and not in the pool........

Had a pump piped with PVC on a sand filter set up to filter water tower water. his thing had operated for 10 years with no issues.

The customer complained the pvc let go and flooded the place and someone went and fixed it. This system had air operated pneumatic valves on it that were normally closed

A month later I was on call and they called me on a Saturday with the same problem. Water all over the place.

Pvc looked like it got hot, softened and pulled the threaded adapter out of the pump.

I found out they had no compressed air so the valves were shut the pump had run ded headed and overheated the pvc.

They had recently installed new air compressors and controls and were now shutting down the compressors on weekends.

I installed a reverse acting pressure control on the air line and wired it to the pump so a loss of air pressure would shut down the pump

    Colorado Rockies.
They run it year round with no cover. It creates it's own weather system when it gets real cold.

Heck they heat the streets, walks and parking lots in some of those Colorado resorts. Those 1%ers have no issue with that expense

Probably the more NG the resorts consume the richer those folk become?
