    That's why one should never go inside a boiler- even part way- unless someone else is there.

    Same thing goes for any restricted space. It's not just that you could get stuck, you could have a medical issue and if no one knows your there . . .

    Many years ago two men were tasked with cleaning out a large tank, they decided to use some tricho to clean the inside f the tank. The guy inside that tank passed out and wen his buddy went in to help him he passed out also. Luckily a 3rd man was working nearby and called for help. As I recall the first man died but they managed to bring the secind man around.

    The old trade journals are loaded with accident listings. Especially boiler explosions. They don't report them in the trade mags like that anymore.

    When I think about being stuck somewhere it was during a midnight remodel at a McDonalds in VA. I had to run a tstat wire from the main control panel in the managers office all the way to the front of the store. Rather then get a ladder and pop ceiling tiles I climbed through the ceiling rafters which took about 1/2 hour when I heard muffle talk about " I think it's on fire " and " I need more water " stuff like that. Now it was only a drop ceiling but it was a 10' drop. Then I heard the fire extinguisher blast and by the time I got back to the scuttle hole Ron was covered in the white powder that shoots out of the fire ex. He said he was going home early. It was about three AM when all this happened.

    It was. Apparently they were handing Ron cups of water until somebody blasted the fire ex.
