I'm having a heck of time finding a cross to this obsolete aquastat. I don't need one right away but a colleague of mine needs one right now. I also have quite a few Buderus boilers out there that use this control so I want to be ready if I need one. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Tim. Do you know of an approved replacement by either Honeywell and/or Buderus?
I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the words "new" and "refurbish" being used to describe the same product.

Tim,

No direct replacement per say. If the control can be mounted on the existing well the replacement would be a L8148J1009. If they need to mount control remotely you would use a L7224U1002 and a 24 volt transformer wired to B1 and B2 and then the 24 volt side wired to the gas valve.
