I have been a plumber for about 50 years (master ) but I don`t do A/C . I am now building a house for myself and I am putting in geothermal water to air. I would like to put in a system with 2 thermostats , one for main floor and one for 2nd floor that can be turned off when not being used. My question is what type of units and equipment will be needed so that when I talk with the contractor that will be doing the work I will have some knowledge and not be taken over .The size of unit will be about 3-4 ton according to the home designer.I have two 300 ft wells with loops into the basement and wells filled with bentonite. Any input will be appreciated ,GEORGE

Can do it with 1 unit and a good zone panel with 2 stats and 2 dampers. Many geos are 2 stage and that helps with capacity control when only 1 zone is calling. The ducts should be a bit oversized to each zone and the zone panel should be a model that handles zoning and can adjust the equipment based on load.
