F&T trap question--where should the air vents be?

I have a Hoffman F&T TRAP with 4 holes. Should the main air vent connect to inlet or outlet? According to dan's book, it should connect to the outlet for venting. Right now my vents are connected to the inlets and water has been squirting out like crazy after boiler firing up for 10 minutes. Would changing the air vents to outlet of F&T trap stop the squirting problem?

Our vent trap is made the same way as the Hoffman. H pattern. You are supposed to connect to your line using the outlets on the trap, which would be the bottom. And the vents are on the top or inlets.

So my gorton vents should be connect to inlet of F&T trap? What's the difference if I connect to the outlet instead of inlet?

There is water in the outlet because of the condensate drain, the vents won't work I'm guessing but I'm not a single pipe steam guy. I just know how we configure ours.

Hey, peter, it's me frankii who brought you coffee few weeks ago. I didn't realize that was you until I see your name on the bottom. Thanks for the sample cage unit last time.

Lol, I know I was wondering when you would figure that out...thanks for the coffee, did the cage square you away? Come back if the vent trap is frustrating you and we can test it here.

No, I still have some banging issue after changing the cage unit and the F&T trap but not as bad as before. I wish Dan Holoman can come out and fix my problem. I have more than just banging issues. i just don't understand why my water level keep rising higher than the initial filled water level. BTW, can I order cage unit from you directly?
