I suppose no one on that site bothered to check the manufacturer's piping diagram...................

    Ugh. Just...ugh.
  • Hey: Maybe it works? When the steam in the 2" pipe hits the tee, it'll slow down when the hallway opens up to 3", dropping its water wad into the neutralizer.

But I know squat about steam.
    8.33 lbs./gal. x 60 min./hr. x 20°ΔT = 10,000 BTU's/hour

Two btu per sq ft for degree difference for a slab

sad that the installer thought it was good enough to tweet, and sad that whoever runs supplyhouse's twitter feed thought it was good enough to retweet.

and even worse... Weil-McClain's response to the tweet:

"What a great photo! Can you send us the original image and any other ones from your job sites? marketing@weil-mclain.com"

Must be the same W-M guy who said there was nothing wrong with using a copper header.....

The boiler manual shows threaded pipe and specifies swing joints- go here:

Are those fittings even certified for steam? That's the first time I've seen them used.

Do you think that header (if you want to call it that) will be holding water?

    Well,
That's the last time I buy a WM product. Hopefully my EG series will last another 20 years so I'll need to see if their people have their heads removed by then or not I guess.

    Unbelievable.

Thanks @kcopp I'm leaving for the dentist soon and am expecting some pain. I didn't need some before hand. :)

Once again, I should be forced to hire guys like this because I'm not licensed? Yeah right.

Looks like Viega states that they are rated for up to low pressure steam up to 15psi. I'm sure that "header" has plenty of water in it.

He will think he did a great job no matter what is said. He got recognition from a supply house and the manufacturer. Sad really sad.

And WM will probably feature him in a newsletter where other contractors will see what an "great" installation looks like.
