Looking for new house

Wife and looked at a house today, we're looking to rent a house, so I meet the owner and am invited in, I can't help myself knowing this house is about 100 years old that it'll have a steam system installed. Sure enough it does, however there is baseboard everywhere and they look retarted being so pitched to the one pipe inlet. First I ask the owner (who is moving out) does this heating system hammer and bang , "she says yes, badly but my heating guy says it steam what can you do" my answer " a steam system should be quieter then a hot water system if it's right". So she shows us the basement, and of course I can't help but look at the boiler, it's oversized for the house a Dunkirk piped in copper and completely wrong, no header, equalizer piped wrong, wrong pipe sizes, piped into a bullhead tee. So I give her my card and tell her I can fix this, I tell her the boiler needs to be repiped and she needs cast iron radiators to be reinstalled, "she says she likes the baseboard better" so I try to explain we need to turn all the baseboards into two pipe and pipe into wet returns. Anyway she says I just usually run the gas fireplace instead it works really nice. I say mam if I'm going to rent this place I'm not going to run a gas fireplace to heat my house since it already has a steam system. She took my cards well see what happens. I won't rent unless she fixes the heat.

She will call her guy and ask them and they will say that guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Then you won't hear anything from her and she will rent to someone else. That person will then start posting on here about renting a house with steam and it is so loud. You will then be able to advise them directly about the system being messed up. The renter will then demand the system be fixed properly. You will then get the job and she will fire her old guy and tell everyone he doesn't know what he is doing. Then the knucklehead will learn the error of his ways and come to this site attend Dan's steam school and learn the proper way. Wait no that was some vivid dream I had last night sorry we are in reality here. lol

It is very rare to find a landlord who is interested in having it done once, and done right. They will usually spend two hundred one dollar bills two hundred times rather than one hundred dollars one time to have it done correctly.

Just like so many people I know who are more concerned with how much the monthly car payment is instead of the total price of the car. They want the amount they pay each time to be tiny. I call it false economy.

Well my wife picked the house today a 1960s usual bi level with scorched heat :( But it's big enough and accommodates us, plus the best part is the attached garage, now my Harley will be in my house :) Plus the Ironhead chopper I'm building will be easier this winter.
