Located in a school with a two pipe steam system (vacuum). There are more than one. I am sure I have seen it before (and probably knew what it is at some point).

    Outside Wall

    It is on the inside of an exterior wall. There at least two in the relatively small school.

    What size is the piping into the device?

    Sprinkler alarm?

    How do you know it is tied to the heating system.

    If its on an outside wall what's on the other side?

    I've seen alarms for sprinklers that look like this
