Arco Convector

How do you size how much air is in Arco Convector?  Width 5 5/8 various length 23" to 60".   I am trying to balancing all the radiators.   I have balance the main header 2"  60" long X .023 cubic air per feet = 1.38 divided by 3 minutes (open vent pipe steam time from header to vent) = .460 cfm.   I am trying to find the same formula for the Acro Convector radiator

    I was just looking at Steve and Gerry's "Balancing Steam Systems Using a Vent Capacity Chart"  toward the end of the document, Cast Iron Convector (in cabinate) is listed as having .0003 cu. ft. of air, per square foot of EDR.

    How much EDR each convector has is listed in this PDF from the library here.

    there's a calculator, you just put the numbers in and it figures it out for you.  I'll look for it and post it. 5 minutes.......

    thank you for the worksheet.  But I am confuse. The book by Dan  "Greening Steam"  Chapter 6 page 134  Cast-iron convector (in cabinet) is .0003 per sq ft EDR.   The worksheet is set at .01.   All the valves are just one point above what I figure.   It is nice to have somebody else to the math.

    Yes,

     that is the same problem I had.  I didn't really have time to mess with it a couple nights ago.  Here is something you could try that worked for me.

    change sq ft edr to 1, and runout length to 1,



    CFM to vent now reads  .003

    I realise that there is a big difference between .003 and .0003  I don't know why the discrepancy, however, I believe the calculator will get you close.

    Also, when it comes time

     to consider vents for your convectors, consider the Ventrite #1.  Ventrite #1 is a good quality vent with very fine adjustability.  They are kinda hard to find at your local store but there are a few places on the internet.  They are a little more money, but I think they are worth it.
