pulse-width modulating thermostats and zone valves

Which type of zone valve works best with pulse-width modulating thermostats.  Would the lag inherent in thermal actuators be problematic or act as a pseudo modulating valve.  Do motorized valves burn out from this type of control method?  (I'm looking at the taco zone sentry line for their efficiency.)  Perhaps PMW is actually used to help prevent rapid short cycling?

    heat motor

Any of the heat motor type are meant for this and work well. There is such a lag because of the mass of most radiant systems that the slow reaction time of the heat motor (or thermal actuator, same thing) is actually beneficial, the thermostat learns to ride the wave.
