    very sad indeed....

that was quite an explosion to level a house like that.... must have been a catastrophic leak. Do you live near there?

I used to live in Buffalo, N.Y., and went on sports car rallies every weekend. They often went through there, The names of the town, fire departments, and some of the roads are familiar to me.

quite an explosion to level a house like that

I live in New Jersey now, and a few years ago a house in Edison blew up from a natural gas explosion. Fortunately, it was a law office, not a residence, and no one had gotten to work that morning. It was leveled too.

Some friends of mine lived near enough to there that they heard and felt the explosion, but they did not see it.

If I remember correctly, the leak was not even in that house, but in a main in the street (Route 27), and the gas company was working on it when the explosion occurred. Apparently some of the gas from the leak settled in the basement of the house that blew up. I suppose there might have been a standing pilot light or something in there. I am not sure of these facts; they are just what I remember.
