Recommended Boiler and Indirect System

Hi,

I am converting from oil to gas and I have two bids that I am

considering.  One bid is for a Buderus GB142 Boiler and a Buderus S120

32 gallon Indirect Water Tank.  The other bid is for a Burnham Alpine

ALP080 Boiler and a Burnham Alliance SL 35 gallon Indirect Water Tank.

Which do you think is a better choice and why?

Thanks!

    Neither

I'm not a fan of either aluminum or Giannone heat exchangers. If I had gas available,I would go with either a Viessmann or Triangle Tube. We use a lot of S-120 indirect and have never had a problem,no first hand experience with the Alliance but have heard good things.

    Buderus

I have done a couple of Buderus with no issues.  They are fickle about water quality so make sure to test the PH of the water. The S-120 is a good indirect.  Never put in the Burnham if it is a Giannone heat exchanger I would personally stay away never really liked them.

    my thoughts

I really like the q series Rinnai with the Burnham alliance indirect...I find it very user friendly..Installed many with never an issue...Just stick with proven equipment and something your installer is comfortable with...Installed  and sized  correctly, they all provide comfort...Make sure your system is compatible with a condensing boiler, and if not, piping of the boiler is critical....ja
