in Gas Heating
My plumber is suggesting i get a burnham cast iron gas boiler with direct vent SCGTM series but he said i need a converter to convert the boiler from natural gas to propane gas.  We are using propane.  I did a search and it seems that burnham has propane gas boilers for a hot water heating system. Do all burnham gas furnaces have to have a converter for propane?  Does this ruduce the efficiency of the system?  Thanks

    manufacturers and how they set up their equipment.



    If a boiler or furnace is purchased set up for natural gas with the option to convert to propane then a kit is made available and can be installed by a professional technician. It should then be tuned to the new fuel and a combustion analysis accomplished.



    The propane actually burns with a hotter flame than natural gas so there is somewhat of a little better BTU available. Equipment typically works fine on either fuels because both are brought to the burning process as vaporised fuels.
