I have a Burnham 4N1654 coal boiler with capability of burning 923 lbs/hr of coal.

Burnham web site does not give any direction as to minimum or maximum water flow rate or minimum return water temperature.

Any guidance?

Thanks.

    It depends

I would imagine that the return would need to be hot enough as to not cause condensation, and that would depend on the grade and quality of the coal that is being used.  I guess that you could go to some coal related websites and find out what temp the vapor from coal fire condenses at.

    Bituminous stoker

Most of the guys I have talked to that burn bit. coal try not to run the boilers below 140 degrees. It certainly depends on exactly what you are burning to know just how "low you can go", but above 140 should be fine.

As for the flow rate, Burnham should be able to tell you the maximum delta T they want to see through that boiler.
