Tired of draining water

I have a weil mcclain steam boiler, which seems to have too much water in the sysytem.  After  the boiler is off, the return water fills the heater and the sight glass.  Repeated draining does not seem to solve the problem.  The main steam valves have been replaced, along with a new thermostat, but there appears to be an endless supply of water. (Autofeed has been disconnected and the water supply is shut off) Where is all this water coming from?  Note, this is a 2 pipe system.  All info is helpful.

    Vacume pump

Is This A Two Pipe System With Or Without A Vacume Pump.

I Am Haveing The Same Problem And Think It Is A Bypass In The Slinger Vacume Pump.

The Auto Feed On The Uper Tank Seems To Add Water An Awful Lot.

Another Possibility Is Bad Tube Bundle If You Are Converting To Hot Water

Hope This May Help   Also Hope Someone May Help Me With The Vacume Pump Issue

    Does the boiler

have a hot-water coil in it? If so, that could be leaking water into the boiler.

I am a novice therefore not sure if there is a hot water coil or not.  At this point I will be unable to drain and service the heater for the next heating season.  Also, if I don't drain some of the water daily i am noticing water squirting from one of my main vents?  Not sure why this is happening either, any thoughts out there?

    time for a professional

see if you can find a pro on the find a contractor section here. the zip code feature is sometimes not working, but they listings by state are ok.

while waiting, have a look at the boiler, and wrap tape around every steam related pipe you see [return w/hartford loop, risers/header. any additional pipes connected to the boiler could be to a possibly leaking hot-water coil.

not only are you tired of draing water each day, but also your boiler will be tired of all that fresh oxygenated water [the enemy of cast iron!]--nbc

    does your

boiler make domestic hot water for you? that is what the coil is used for. very visible if you look around the water line of the boiler. thats is the problem in most cases, especially when your feed is disconnected. how long have you noticed this for?
