recessed radiator installation

I am changing my steam system over to a hot water system. the room in the house is tight so I am thinking about the burnham or governale recessed radiators. My question for installation to make the most out of them being recessed is about insulation. My wall studs are 2X4. Dio I insulate or just put a foil behind the unit. Also, my house exterior is stucco, and there is no sheething. So the back end of the unit will be laying up against the stucco. Will this be worthwhile, or would the cast iron baseboard be a better choice?

    where are you located?

if you're in a chilly climate, I would not recommend recessing into an outside wall, you'll need/want all the insulation you can get, especially if you are 2x4. Foil is NOT acceptable as a sole form of insulation.

    Just Wondering...

Why are you getting rid of your steam system?

    thanks for replies

i live in Long island, it gets a bit cold in the winter. Removal of the steam system came during a remodel job. Big rads and steam pipes took up too much space. 1930 house, had exposed pipes throughout.

Thinking maybe a coat of closed cell insulation behind may work. it'll stick out about 3 " though.
