Fixing a POORLY installed new Weil McLain steam boiler

A LGB 10 is brand new, but the piping is awful.  Only 4" header, bullheaded tee from 2-4" risers.  no equalizer, no hartford loop, return tied in above the water line, etc.  Symptons.....water hammer, gushing water at vents, etc.  The main question is....even if the boiler is re-piped 100% properly I think it is way oversized.  It is feeding steam coils.(I am working on sizing).  However the building has changed (used to be a theatre........now ther are some offices, being heated by forced air furnaces).  Is there any way I can make an oversized boiler work?  I highly doubt the supplier will swap out for a smaller boiler.  And no I did not do the install.  But I may be hired to fix it (I may not want the job if you know what I mean).   Thank You

    modulating burner for steam?

could a modulating burner option from W/M for this boiler work around the over-size situation? depending on the difference between the boiler rating, and the amount of connected radiation, it might improve the situation. in addition, perhaps making some hot water could make productive use of the extra BTU's [coin-operated laundrette occupancy?]. in this sort of situation, i imagine that it would be very important to keep the pressure down and the main venting generous.--nbc

    All LGBs

come with two-stage gas trains. Have a real pro hook yours up properly and fine-tune it with a digital analyzer. Then watch how well it works.
