Are zone valves better on the return than on the supply?

I've found.
No significant difference on any jobs I've done, although I like to keep zone valves on the suction side of the pump to reduce noise on closing. And if you pump on the supply, they'll always be on the return.0 -
suction side
Thank you, I think I will put my new setup that way.

I prefer the supply side.....
...... if for no other reason than to assure there is no migration flow in the "off" zones. If I were to put them on the return side, I would either use thermal traps or checks on each supply.heatboy
