Mendotah gas fire place

I need a gas valve for one of these "lovely" units. any ideas where to get one. The numbers on the valve do not cross to the standard valves.

    What is the make

of the valve? Some of the valves used on decorative appliances are European. There are some also made here by Honeywell and they are typically powerpile valves. If it is powerpile did you take millivolt readings?

    Yep did the millivolts

Mine is not the Cadillac of meters but was 300 + millivolts. The home owners had just installed a new powerpile last month. I did get an email back from the manufacturer so I will be ordering the parts. Thanks for the reply. Why I am repairing a 60 percent efficient unit in this day and age I do not know.

    Charlie if they juswt replaced

the powerpile i assume you are talking about the generator???

Do you know the proccedure for checking millivolts? If you only have 300 millivolts I have to ask was that at the valve or was it an open circuit reading on the generator? The generator should put out around 750 millivolts.

What is the make of gas valve?

    It was at the valve,

paper work with the unit said I should get 325 at the valve.

    Charlie do you know

how to take a complete set of Millivolt readings? That is the only way to know exactly what is wrong.

    Yes I do Tim

The thing is I did not check to see what the valve needs for voltage or if the valve was polarity sensitive. The owner is an engineer and I assumed he but the proper replacement part. I am thinking he may not have seeing how quick he got his and how long I have to wait for one.

Charlie I am trying to help you here

what is the make and numbers on the valve? I have a procedure I can mail you on checking powerpile systems or from time to time I run a full day class on powerpile systems.

    I appreciate the help Tim!

I was just looking for the parts source though. I do not have the numbers here in the office. I had to go to Mendotah as the numbers when I called around got blank stares through the phone from my supply houses. The other problem was when I was at the home the fireplace worked fine. then 3 days later  it acted up. These are the numbers for the parts from the manufacturer / t-pile is part #05-07-00061  valve #05-02-00238 NG Valve

This is why I enjoy these specialty units

Thanks Tim I realize this But I am glad to have your help available. The numbers on the valve are buried so I cannot reach them without dismantling the unit. The visible numbers match these numbers.
