Old Steam heat furnace will not ignite

I have an old steam heat broiler. Recently I replaced all of the aluminum gas pipes and the thermo coupler (sp). Now that I have everything in place, the pilot light remains lit, a compressor or pump runs, but the furnace will not kick on or ignite. Is there a problem with the thermo-coupler? Could it just not be seated in the right spot in front of the flame coming out of the pilot light? Or does the water need to circulate before it will ignite?

    in my humble opinion...

burner maintenance and adjustment are best left to well-trained professionals with the right equipment and gear to get the adjusted properly.  Just one man's opinion.
