Brand New Vents Leaking - Help !

I put a brand new set of name brand vent valves on my single pipe steam radiators, and many of them are leaking steam under pressure.

I have a brand new boiler with a vaporstat and a 3 PSI gauge. The pressure never goes above 1 PSI.

The vents start to leak as the system begins to get to pressures over about 6 oz.

I have removed the vents and filled them with alcohol shaken then emptied then filled them with water shaken then emptied.

I have used teflon tape to make a tight seal when mounting.

The steam comes out of the vent hole, not the threads.

I am at a loss. Is the quality control on vents so low that you have to go through vent after vent to find one that lasts longer than one boiler cycle? What is happening here? Help please!

    Once in a while

every manufacturer has problems with quality control. How they handle it is what counts. Get in touch with them and tell them what happened.

    Tried Another Brand.

I tried another brand, (a much lesser brand) from a local home repair center. This resolved some of the leaking rad vents. But there are some still leaking steam with the new brand vent valves. I am stumped. Can this have anything to do with a need for skimming ???
