replaced old radiators with new baseboard for steam

Hey all,

So as the title states, I purchased my home about 3 years ago...it has steam heat, it had those old clunky radiators that we're really oddly placed.

Went ahead and replaced those with baseboard...so here's the deal, 2 of the bedrooms now make a little noise, when the baseboard is first being heated it sound like theres a screw in the pipe, not too too loud, but still annoying at 3am.

Any idea what this could be?

Another one of the rooms, the (valve) I think makes like what seems to be a loud tick(really loud actually)...could it be a faulty valve, or is something else causing this?



Any ideas, suggestions gladly welcomed.

    What kind of baseboard

    did you use? Did you hook it up with two pipes or one?

    Quick question...I'm thinking maybe instead of trying to raise the end with the valve...I should try to lift up the part with the valve...does that make any sense...

    is there a general guideline(rule of thumb) measurement...from the floor to the top of the valve?

    I noticed that if I pull up on the valve...it moves up a little, so maybe this is the necessary adjustment.

    Does this make any sense, esp since the heat makes a little noise when it's heating at first, then its silent..gives you like a DING DING DING....



    Any ideas?
