    Hey Tim?

Do you or have you ever thought of training courses on the Maxitrol modulating family of Gas valves?  I do have the books and there are so many different combinations of gas trains using slightly different parts.  Can get confusing sometimes....

    I am so busy with

my residentail gas heating and night classes I do not have time for commercial stuff. The few times I did give classes on commercial controls they were poorly attended.

    Mike that is the

problem, I get the call when they are in front of the unit and want me to give them a class over the phone.

I recently went on a job for a consult, when I arrived they were dismantling the boiler and wanted me to determine what was wrong with the gas train on the boiler they were removing. There was an architect, building owner and the state inspector on the job. None of them had a clue as to what was wrong with the boiler so they were replacing it with a new one. You will love this, when I determined that this boiler ran on Propane and went and checked the underground tank it was shut off. When this guy purchased the building last year the propane company was owed a lot of money so they shut if off. The technician they had called in to service this before they decided to tear it down told them the controls were gone and quoted them some wild price to replace the entire gas train or install a new boiler.

When I left three grown men were standing with their mouths hanging open.

    I can believe it.

Whenever someone makes something more fool-proof, a better fool comes along.

Or as my uncle used to say, you can make something fool-proof, but you cannot make something damn-fool-proof.

    By the way

I billed them for every minute of my time including my stop for coffee.

My students all know what the coffee break is all about.
