one pipe

Contractor remodeling 10th floor of 80 yr old bldg (one pipe steam system), architect wants to relocate radiator location and use steamview steel radiators.  Old cast iron radiators were approx. 18" from riser.  New location to be approx. 15' from riser with 4- 90 degree turns.  Will this work if pipe size is increased?  Would like Dan's input on this one if possible.

    maybe?

can you really increase the tap size of the riser? if so i'd go two more sizes larger because its more than 8 feet. Also, can you use 45 's somehow instead of 90's. Also leave a provision to add a main vent on that runout also, (just in case) ;)

    And

unless the entire zone or building is being changed to Steamviews, it would be best to stay with cast-iron. The steel Steamviews will cool down much more quickly than the cast-iron, leaving the tenants cold.

And you have to be sure you can get enough pitch on that runout. Otherwise it will bang and not heat well.
