Patents last 20 years from the earliest filing date, with a few exceptions (terminal disclaimers, patent term extension, etc.)

    (Not heating) Tires!

Radical new tire design by Michelin. The next generation of tires.

They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tires.

This is what great R&D will do, and just think of the impact on existing technology:

    A. no more air valves...
    B. no more air compressors at gas stations...
    C. no more repair kits...
    D. no more flats...

These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

Off the top of my head...

It looks like there are a few obstacles to this idea.

    1) Special rims

    2) It appears they would use more rubber

    3) I assume they will have side covering in production to prevent mud buildup?

    4) How many shops will have the equipment to change these tires?

    5) Hopefully other manufacturers will develop tires that use the same rims as the Michelins?

    6) How are they in sub-zero temepratures?

    7) Do they weigh the same or less than current tires?

    Maybe Michelin

Can develop some nylons that don't run! I could have retired ten years ago if my wife and daughters didn't have to by those beautifiers every other day!
