Pete,

If this is a Peerless JOT or TW and the oil company says it is staying clean DON'T TOUCH IT. If a newer EC try it for a winter and see what they say at tune up time. One winter won't hurt.

Good Luck,
Leo

Should I have an aquastat on a steam only system

I have a peerless steamer with a DHW coil that is not used. My oil company has been using the aquastat to keep the boiler at 100 deg in the summer and 120 deg in the winter. Is this fuel efficient or should I turn it down in the winter ? I understand that is a good idea to keep the system running during the summer so that things don't gunk up in the combustion chamber area

    he is so right

if it ain't broke 20 degrees may save a little but when it gets cold it may run longer also i am a firm believer in letting the boiler run year round if you upgrade put in a domostic coil and run it into your hot waterheater let the boiler preheat your water
