Backup Boiler

When I installed my new boiler (Vitodens) I left the old boiler (W/M CGM-6) and circulator (B&G 100) in place. It's flow-isolated from the system but still has a connection via an alternate connection (via the built-in air separator)to the plain expansion tank.

Gas valve, pilot, and power are off.

I run a dehumidifier in the summer and basement temp rarely exceeds 80° and relative humidity exceeds 60% only for short periods on the muggiest of nights.

What should I do to ensure my backup is available should the need arise? Changeover involves opening two valves, closing two others, turning one switch off and another off and lighting the pilot. Original mechanical reset and WWSD controls for the W/M are still installed.
