Manometer measurement on steam boiler

Awhile back I removed a half inch pipe plug from the top of the dry return just before it drops down to the boiler, leaving it open to atmosphere. I then connected a water manometer to a pigtailed boiler steam tapping. Measured two and one half inches w.c. At that pressure obviously the pressuretroller never cuts out, even at minimum setting.
I then logged the boiler cycle time. With exterior temp. at 10 degrees the house heats to 73 plus or minus a degree with one complete cycle of a little less than an hour.
Any good reason to install a vaporstat?
