Is painting new radiator neccasary?

I am having a brand new Burnham slenderized radiator installed. Can I leave it the way it is (factory primed) or does it have to be painted? thanks

    I kind of agree

    the unpainted gray primer does look nice and will work fine. But you have an opportunity to make it either stand out or recede more and be easier to clean if you paint it.

    Personally, I would paint it with a glossy oil-based enamel but have seen entire houses done with just the bare primed radiator and it looks great to me also.

    As KJC said, you will be fine. Either way.

    Did It

    Last fall I installed a new Slenderized radiator in a bedroom of our house. So far it's still wearing primer. I'll paint it when we get around to fixing up that room. I was surprised, however, how long it outgassed when hot. That thing stunk for a month! Even the radiators I've painted at home stopped smelling like burnt paint after a few days. You'd think Burnham would use something better.
