Steam Boiler works for 2 hours before high pressure shut off

I have an oil fired steam system with mostly cast iron radiators. The burner & boiler are 8 years old. It takes about 1/2 hour for the radiators on the 2nd floor to get hot. The thermostat is set low at night so that in the morning the temperature has to rise about 7 degrees. With my old boiler it would go off after about 1 hour, stay off for a few minutes go on for another five minutes and so on until the thermostat reached the set temperature. The present boiler works for about 2 hours, goes off for 1 minute, works for another 15 minutes and so on. What is the point in burning fuel constantly when the cast iron radiators will give off heat on their own after the burner is off.
Does cycling the burner more often save fuel?
Will different steam valves affect the cycling time?

    adjustments

If your piping is done correctly, and your system is properly set up, insulated and vented, you may just need some adjustments to get it going efficiently.

Sounds like a few things need 2b cheked. Make sure pig tail is clear & clean 2 P-trol. Check that your Cut In is @ half PSI & your Diff. is @ 1.5 to 2 psi on P-trol. U could also have a wet steam situation. Does water level jump alot in sight glass, while making steam? If so then boiler needs 2b flushed & skimmed this will remove contamenets from water. PH level of water should also b btw/7 to 9. Steam boiler treatment will help with that.
