I have a 60 year old Ruud Monel water heater. Is there a market for these? Do they have any value?

    They do not make them

like that anymore. They just keep going and going and going.

I have one tank which had the control changed three times it was installed sometime right after the war in the 40's. It is in a relatives house and is still working.

They have some pretty good junk value. Not sure what the per pound price is.

I took one in to my scrap dealer a couple of years ago and he said by the time they strip it down to the bare tank, it's not much weight. I think he gave me $30.

Fair? The guy that owns the scrap yard lives in a $2 million house. Maybe he's just a lot smarter than me.
    8.33 lbs./gal. x 60 min./hr. x 20°ΔT = 10,000 BTU's/hour

Two btu per sq ft for degree difference for a slab

    another thought

If it's not leaking and you have a warm place to put it, just use it as a tempering tank to preheat your hot water.  It's a form of recycling that could pay a lot better!

It's not so much a case of "You got what you paid for", as it is a matter of "You DIDN'T get what you DIDN'T pay for, and you're NOT going to get what you thought you were in the way of comfort". Borrowed from Heatboy.
