Boiling to clean radiator vents

Pat M

When we first moved in to our 75+ year old home, I replaced all the little side vents on the radiators (one pipe steam).

We recently had our boiler replaced and are having problems (water hammer, clanging, banging all that). And some of the radiators don't heat as well. I'm making a guess that maybe when the boiler was replaced, more gunk got stirred up and my vents might need cleaning again? So, I know you can boil these things to clean them using vinegar. My question is -- how much vinegar?

Of course, I'm happy to hear other tips as well. (And if you know any INCREDIBLE steam heat guys in St. Louis, let me know).

Thanks!

    Gunk?

While possible that some gunk got into system, I would like to see some photos of the new boiler. Photos of the piping is most important. P.S. vinegar is cheap, mix 75% vinegar 25% water for cleaning.
