Hi all. I picked up a huge heating job. I will be trying the pro-press system out (copper is what was speced out). I was curious does anyone know of a company that makes a power cutter for copper pipe (other than the traditional pipe cutter)? Our arms will look like POPEYE the sailor after cutting 2" copper after a few days of this. Any help would be appreciated.

    I'll join in

I bought the Ridgid #122 about 4 or 5 years ago, and it travels to every large copper job.

Best money spent to keep my wrists and forearms from getting too big to fit in dress shirts, they are already huge from the genes I got from my old man......

    how about

a dry-cut metal chop saw? Several wallies were purchasing them about 3 years ago. Any good?
  • Fantastic!

    DeWalt Multi cutter.

Cuts steel (sched 40 or 80), cast iron, copper, plastic, wood all with the SAME carbide toothed blade.

Clean cuts with no deburring required (unless blade is abused)

Wear appropriate eye and ear protection.

    Multicutter

I bought my Dewalt Multicutter at the same time as my Ridgid #122 and used it a whole lot until last year. It is great for big jobs as an all purpose cutoff machine, and yes, bye bye big nasty burrs, and the smell of burning steel.

I have since purchased a dry cut metal blade for my 6 1/2" Milwaukee cordless circ saw for cutting unistrut, and to be honest it is a lot handier. I only drag out the Dewalt 14" for big cutting jobs anymore, especially since I bought the rems threaded rod cutter head for my Rems press tool.

I use the Ridgid even for Propress because I find it easier for reaming, and I lightly hit the outside edge with the wire brush to debur. Of course the Ridgid #122 is only good for up to 2" copper. I believe they came out with a bigger model for up to 4" copper now!
