adding a hot water zone

David, thanks for the advice. I guess I need to add cut off valves, refill the system and after the wall board is up and the new radiators installed, I open the valves and purge the new zone.

Adding a hot water heating zone

I am pretty confident I know how to pipe a new zone for my basement heat. What I don't understand is how do you add this zone while the other zones are still active. You cannot add the radiant sections until the wall board is installed. So, before the wall board is up, how do you tie in and check the system for leaks and prevent the other zones from leakin into the new zone?

test all new piping with air pressure first.(lot easyer to clean up mess if you have a leaker;)

    adding zone

That helps with the pipe checking, but how do you keep the other zones active while you wait to install the wall board. Do you just cap the ends and remove the caps to install the radiators. Do you need to drain the system twice?

You are adding a new zone?

If you are you drain down the system add tees for the new zone, valve it off, fill and purge out the ols zones. mount your baseboard pipe it in with its own purge, air test the new zone, after all it air tight ,purge out the new zone....David
