Cast Iron Rad

The best way to move something like that is to separate the radiator (as long as it is held together with the four long threaded rods) into several more manageable pieces. You can easily reassemble it once you get all the pieces to where you're going. By all means though, borrow a pickup to make the move! Your Element will be draggin' with a load like that!

How to move Cast Iron Rad

I found someone willing to part with an old cast iron rad which I plan on using in the kitchen of my house (one pipe steam). My problem is in moving it from the donors house to mine without breaking my back or my car (Honda Element). Any ideas on how to move a $400 lb piece of iron?

    Appliance Dolly

If you rent/borrow an appliance dolly, that should make moving it much easier. But if it's really 400#, you're going to need some help if you've got to get it up more than a couple of stairs.

As for the actual transport, I dunno. It really shouldn't be an issue for any car, particularly if you lay it down in the back seat (do Elements have these??). But if you're really worried about it, recruit some "help" that also drives a pickup. ;-)

I would try calling a piano mover. 400lbs would be nothing for tese guys!

Here, Minneapolis, Manny's Piano guy do it for maybe $200 but Two Guys with a Truck did such a thing for less than half that I am told. Just to suggest a range. Beats back surgery.
