I have a pressure controller on my steam boiler now . would i benefit by replacing it with a vaporstat. I seem to have reached the lowest setting on it. Boiler kicks off at 2psi and turns back on around 1/2 psi. Heat comes up fast put i do get noise coming fro rad vents . bought new gordons and still hiss like hell. i followed all the things to do in dan's book , looking for some needed help. Thanks

Yes
Installing a vaporstat is a nice thing to do if not the right thing in your case. You could operate it at much lower pressure, in the range of ounces. A pressuretrol only has so much resolution and range.
By lowering the pressure, that may help your hissing issue, provided that the main vents are properly sized in the first place. If you got Gorton's I am sure if the factory assisted you, then they would be correct.0 -
If the heat comes up that fast
the boiler may be oversized. From a cold start to every rad fully hot should take maybe 45 mins to an hour. The mains should vent out first before any rad starts to get steam.
