Slant Fin Mislabeled?

It was nice to talk with you this week. It's also nice to know that the boiler was labeled correctly, and that your original installer was able to set it up correctly with instruments, when it was new.

It's a shame that some companies still do clean and service calls without using instruments, and without using the correct nozzle.

It baffles me that the serviceman can't tell a 2 section boiler from a 3 section boiler, WITH THE FLUE COLLECTOR REMOVED!!!

Since you haven't called back, and haven't responded here, I'll assume that you have it adjusted, now.

If you need any further help, please call.

    SlantFin Mislabeled

I've been having trouble with a SlantFin Liberty2 LD 30 since its installation 2 years ago. It takes about an hour to raise the house temp. 2 degrees. It took the old behemeth 10 minutes. I just had to have the boiler cleaned again. Something that I have to have done 4 times a year since installation. The technition opened the boiler and says that it looks like an LD 20 because there is only 2 sections in the boiler. Could the boiler have been mis labeled at the factory and sold as an LD 30 when in fact it is an LD20? How else can I tell.

    call technical services

Please call Slant/Fin techncial services department on Tuesday. The phone number is 800 873 4346, when you hear the message dial 3 and you will go to the next available technical representative. Please explain the situation to them. Please have the boiler's serial number
    available.

This toll free phone number is for the USA. If there is a problem you can email me at kmuhlmeister@slantfin.com or call 516 484 2600.

A LD-30 boiler should have 3 sections. Please measure the depth of the boiler jacket from front to back and give that info to us. It should be 14 7/8 inches deep on a LD-30. While the rating plate should indeed be correct, I have learned that anything is possible.

If the boiler is the correct depth you should still call our technical services department and discuss the problem with them.

    Thank you,

Is Home Depot involved with this by any chance?

Not from Home Depot. My private licensed plumber did the installation and he ordered the packaged boiler from his source.

BTW the recent technition said that because it is mislabeled, it was over fired. Thats why it was sooting up so quickly. He adjusted it as if it is an LD 20, put in a 0.65 GPH 80 dagree Hago nozzle and cranked the oil pressure up from 100psi to 130psi
