Tankless coil produces low volume of hot water

I have a Utica ACE 400-ST boiler with a tankless coil for hot water. I am the sole occupant of the house and don't use much hot water. The water gets scalding (200 deg.) hot but not for long enough to take a 10 minute shower without cooling off and then hot again as the boiler kicks in. This is probably the original coil from 1978 so I'm guessing that it is full of minerals from the very hard water here.
The boiler is geting up there in age but heats the house just fine. Should I get a replacement coil? I've replaced heating cores in cars. Is this any more difficult or should it be left to the pros?
