Well last night I finally got all my solar connections made to the radiant floor system.heated soley by solar.. I do not have all the controls hooked up so I disconnected the hot water pump to the heat exchanger and turned off all the valves.. so it was pure free god given solar hot water heating my house., felt good too.. Hopefully. a 2 year payback on the system.

Equipment?
Eric,
What is your control strategy? And what kind of equipment have you selected? I was really impressed by some of the Oventrop solar equipment shown at ISH.

I'm Curious
What part of the country are you in?
Flat plate or evacuated tube collectors? How many?
What's the total heat loss of heated space?
Did you go with a 2 tank system, one for DHW, one for heating? An atmospheric tank or ASME pressure vessel?
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm asked to design these types of systems often and am always interested in strategies employed by others.
Love to learn.
Thanks,
Happy Jake

Wow!
Very cool. Not a small job by any measure. Tell me more about the storage tank. How many gallons. How was it built? What precautions have you implemented so someone doesnt mistake it for a real outhouse.? :P WW
