Repiped wet return

Just fired our boiler (two pipe vapor system) after re-piping the wet return and have a couple of questions. First I not only re-piped the wet return but also lowered it 12" to place it below the water line. My first question is should you be able to hear condensate flowing through the return line? Before re-piping I had never noticed it before. Next question is about the venting. Before the re-pipe, steam was crossing over into the return and it was obvious when the vents (Gorton #2's) were removing air, now they are considerably quite on the supply side and almost non-existent on the return side. The system seems to be heating up well, with no apparent issues other than the above concerns.
Thanks for any comments.

Return and venting
No you will not hear the condensate if you piped it right ... Let run , build up to its limit, No hammering you did good. You don't want a long run into the Hartford loop.
Vent Question, you should not hear a vent. Quiet heating good , maybe you fixed it.0 -
Quiet is good
My guess is you did it right!0 -
Wet return length
Thanks for your response big Ed!!!
Would you please clarify your comment regarding not wanting a long run into the Hartford loop? I didn't change the length from what it originally was, although it is considerably long at 15ft., could this be an issue in any way? I just want to be sure I'm not over looking anything.
Thanks again!!0 -

Ed is referring to the connection where the hartford loop connects to the Equilizer it needs to be a Wye Fitting or a Tee with Close Nipple, a eieteen foot wet return is fine.0
