Cordless drill tally:

And here are the results to my question, "What's the best cordless drill out there"?
DeWalt was first with 9 votes.
Milwaukee was next with 6
Craftsman and Makita were tied with 3 each
Panasonic and Ryobi tied with 2 each
All tied with one vote a piece: Porter Cable, Hilti, Ridgid (sic) and Bosch.
A note of thanks to all who responded. Since all I needed was a battery, which I found on e-Bay and just ordered, I suspect I may get another 10 years out of the old Ryobi ater all. If it does crap out soon, the overwhelming comments on the DeWalt are hard to dismiss.
Thanks again lads.

Should you go yellow, get the 18V hammerdrill and 18v grinder combo kit...I use the grinder as much as the drill!!

Of course there are \"other\" issues...
Like comparing the johnny-HO model of Craftsman to the Ultra model Milwaukee (which are $39.00 as compared to $400!)
Each man makes such a varied model range, no real comparison could be offered unless more details are processed.
Regardless of model however, most liked the DeWalt a lot.
I too love Milwaukee products; the Sawzall and 7.25" bladed power saws I own are both over 10 years old - and have never required service. The date code on the one remaining battery for the Ryobi suggests a manufacture date of 38th week of 2000; making it six years old. Considering it ws probably charged and dis-charged well over 1,000 times, dropped off ladders and scaffolding, in water and high temps more than I can recount - I'm not throwing in the towel just yet on Ryobi.0
