i have another steam question. I am the custodian at the local library with steam heat 2 pipe and the traps say trane on them. boiler is about 20 yo and works like a charm never had any noise from it. I was just wondering since they turn it back to 60 at nite and then i get it back up to 68 in the morning are they really saving anything by going back that far. When i turn it back up it runs for about 2+ hrs. The building is insulated with stroms and tight. thanks for all the interesting tips.

Since the heat loss is a function of the delta between inside and out, there will be a saveings as the temp is lower. When asked about the 2 hours to set up, remember the boiler was off the whole time it was setting back from 68 to 60. In short $$ will be saved you just need to guarentee to 68 at opening.0
